Welcome to Our Very First Quilting Academy Awards!

The moment has arrived—our very first Academy Awards at Lake Okoboji! I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this special occasion, and now it’s time to roll out the red carpet and celebrate the celebrities among us.

We gather twice a year, but some of us may not realize just how much talent lives within our circle of friends and fellow sewists. This year’s retreat is packed with exciting activities, and we want you to be part of every stitch of it!

You’ll have the chance to join in on mini-classes throughout the week—perfect for creating quick gifts and smaller projects. And of course, there will be plenty of time to finally tackle those UFOs (UnFinished Objects) or long-awaited quilting goals. Bring everything you need and make yourself at home!

We All Speak "Quilt"—So Communication Will Be a Breeze!

Arrival begins at 7:00 AM on Wednesday. Weekend retreaters can stay until Sunday at 3:00 PM, while full-week participants are welcome starting Wednesday after brunch.

Clover Cottage will once again be on-site, bringing a lovely selection of fabric, kits, notions, and other quilting goodies. We’re so grateful for their continued support and the pop-up shop experience they create for us!

Dining with the Magnificent Kevin

All meals will follow our signature Brunch–Dinner schedule, beginning with Wednesday dinner. If you have dietary needs, please let Chef Kevin know in advance—he’s happy to accommodate.

We’ll also have our beloved snack table, so feel free to bring a few treats to share. If it’s something we can’t resist, don’t forget to bring the recipe!

Pampering & Relaxation

We’re thrilled to have Mindy with us once again, offering pedicures, manicures, haircuts, and more throughout the weekend. And yes—Codi is back, offering those heavenly massages many of you enjoyed last spring.

Pillows
Towels

Each room in Alta House includes one queen bed and several standard twins, so plan accordingly.

Saturday Night: The Academy Awards Ceremony

The grand finale will be held Saturday night after dinner—our very own Academy Awards Ceremony. It’s a formal event (however you define that—sequins or slippers, we support your style!). The paparazzi will be there, so be photo-ready.

We'll follow the awards with Show and Tell, where we hope everyone will share something they’ve completed this year. It’s always a joy to see the creativity and craftsmanship in our community.

We're looking forward to fun-filled days, delicious meals, and fabulous sewing sessions with all of you. Let the stitching (and star power) begin!

Take a moment today to pause and reflect on all that you have. Gratitude doesn’t require perfection—just a heart willing to notice the good. No matter what the day brings, there is always something to be thankful for.
