Exciting Updates for Our Fall Okoboji Retreat!

Greetings, fellow retreaters!

It's that time of year again when we gear up for our much-anticipated Fall Okoboji Retreat. As we head north to our retreat destination, I can't help but feel a rush of excitement. It's a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and prepare for an unforgettable time together.

Mark your calendars for September 13-20, 2023, as those are the dates for this year's camp. I'm thrilled to announce that Clover Cottage from Emmetsburg, Iowa, will be joining us once again as our esteemed vendor. They're bringing their entire shop to our camp, making it a significant endeavor. Let's give a warm welcome to Joni and her staff and show our appreciation for their hard work. Expect a wide selection of fabrics, kits, books, patterns, and notions to fuel your creativity!

By popular demand, we've invited Billie Hanson to teach the Business Professional Tote, a class that several retreaters have been requesting. Additionally, I'll be leading a couple of smaller classes. Please make sure to order patterns before you arrive, to secure your spot in the Tote class. As always, all classes are optional, so you can choose the ones that spark your interest.

Clover Cottage has a special treat for us! They will be offering a Wednesday Night Project and a Mystery Quilt. You'll have the option to purchase kits from Clover Cottage for both projects, adding to the excitement and anticipation.

Arrival time is flexible, with check-in available any time after 7:00 am on Wednesday. The retreat offers two options: a 7-day, 6-night stay until Wednesday at 2:00 pm or a 5-day, 4-night stay until Sunday after brunch. Just like last spring, assigned seating will be arranged, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

During the retreat, you'll be treated to delectable meals prepared by Chef Chad. Our menu follows a Brunch-Dinner schedule, and if you have any dietary concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know. Starting from Wednesday dinner to Wednesday brunch, all your meals will be taken care of.

To add a touch of sweetness to our gathering, we'll have a snack table where you can share treats with your fellow retreaters. Feel free to bring something delightful to contribute!

Looking to pamper yourself? We've got you covered! Enjoy pedicures, manicures, haircuts, and more. Mindy will be available to schedule your "prettiness" appointments, so you can indulge in some well-deserved self-care.

When it comes to accommodations, please remember to bring your own linens and towels. Each room is furnished with a queen bed and several standard twins, ensuring a cozy and comfortable stay.

One of the highlights of our retreat is the Saturday night Show and Tell session. We can't wait to see all the wonderful projects you've completed throughout the year. It's always inspiring to witness the creativity and talent within our community.

Get ready for days filled with fun, delicious meals, and productive sewing sessions. The Fall Okoboji Retreat promises to be an unforgettable experience.

Looking forward to reconnecting with each of you this fall!

Warm regards,

Susan

Professional Tote

The pattern Professional Tote being taught at retreat

Approximate finished dimensions are: 18″Wide x 15″ Tall x 5″ Deep

The Professional Tote has all the pockets and compartments needed for today’s professional woman. Whether you work in an office or not, this tote has it all. There is a pleated pocket on each side of the tote to hold a bottle of water, umbrella, magazine, baby bottle or telephone. Also, on the front is a zippered pocket to hold your ID and Passport for your airport travel. Behind that pocket is one for your boarding pass.

On the backside is one large pocket for a newspaper. On the inside, there is a large center dividing zippered pocket that holds file folders. There is plenty of room inside for a laptop computer. Several pockets are inside for your business cards, keys, pens, PDA, and more. To finish it off, there is a zipper that will close tight to keep the contents secure. This would also work great as a sewing tote with a place for patterns or books, fabrics and notions.

The Clover Cottage Quilt Shop is once again coming to Camp to vend. We met so many friendly quilters in February and had such a great time with all of you. We are busy planning great things to share with you.

Once again, we'll be bringing a wide variety of modern and bright fabrics, notions, and kits to the retreat. We'll also be offering sales throughout the week, so you can save big on your favorite fabrics.

In addition to shopping, we have projects and kits we can’t wait to share.

We hope to see you there!

Rita Nau - I made this One Block Wonder and changed things up a bit.  I incorporated the faces of the animals in the piece.  It will be hanging in the AQS Quilt Show in  Grand Rapids, MI show in September.
